There is so much on offer in Norfolk and Suffolk, being on the border of both counties gives you the advantage of some great days out further afield from the campsite. Within an acceptable driving distance we have many local towns, a Zoo, themepark and even the 2nd best seaside town in the UK  - See HERE.

BRESSINGHAM STEAM MUSEUM & GARDENS

A fantastic day out for adults and kids. Explore the gardens whilst riding on any of the 4 railway lines, check out the National Dad's Army collection or enjoy yourselves on the fantastic steam powered gallopers.

Located next door, and free of charge is the large Bressingham Garden Centre with a cafe and selection of shops.

BANHAM ZOO

A great day out will be had at Banham Zoo, this is a large well-run zoo with some really WILD animals and a big conservation ethic.

 

Visit on a Sunday morning and you can browse one of the biggest car boot sales around.

Once in the zoo you can also go on the Zarafa Heights SkyTrek an aerial treking course and zip wire!

DISS

Located a 15 minute drive away from the campsite is the Market Town of Diss. There is a beautiful park, wide range of local cafes, takeaways and restuarants along with a Morrisons, Tesco and Aldi supermarket for anyone requiring a larger shop. The Train station is located on the London - Norwich mainline.

 

The newly refurbished Corn Hall venue is a must visit espsecially with the Tourist information centre located within - Check upcoming events HERE

EYE

Eye is the nearest town to the campsite at about 10 minutes drive away. There is a bakery, late opening Co-Op, 2 Chinese takeaways and a fish and chip shop alongside the Queens Head Pub, cafes, shops and more.

MUSEUM OF EAST ANGLIAN LIFE

The Museum of East Anglian Life is a real gem of a day out.

 

Set over 70 acres there is plenty for everyone including steam engines, a farm zoo, Gypsy caravans, and events throughout the year.

NORWICH

You could lose days exploring the many different parts of this beautiful city.

 

From the cathedral and castle to the shopping centres and market and everything inbetween it is a perfect day out, especially if the weather takes a turn for the worse!

Southwold Beach huts suffolk
SUTTON HOO

There are plenty of National Trust places to visit but Sutton Hoo is one of the best.

This is a hauntingly beautiful 255 acre estate, with far-reaching views over the river Deben.

 

Walk around the ancient burial mounds and discover the incredible story of the ship burial of an Anglo-Saxon king and his treasured possessions.

THE NORFOLK BROADS

The Norfolk Broads is only a short drive away. The nearest start point from us is in a lovely town named Bungay.

It is from here you can hire Canadian canoes and do the beautiful 3 hour loop or go wild swimming (see number 3 in the article) if you wish!

 

Further into the broads you can hire a boat by the hour and explore in a more relaxed manner!

Bury St Edmunds abbey gardens in the summer with blue sky
BURY ST EDMUNDS

Bury St Edmunds is a unique and dazzling historic gem.

 

An important market town with a richly fascinating heritage, the striking combination of medieval architecture, elegant Georgian squares and glorious Cathedral and Abbey gardens provide a distinctive visual charm.

 

With prestigious shopping, an award-winning market, plus variety of attractions like the Greene King Brewery Tour, you could easily lose a day here.

SOUTHWOLD AND THE COAST

Have a great day by the seaside and visit the quirky Southwold Pier and it’s wacky attractions, visit the Adnams brewery or simply play on the beach.

You will also find mini-golf, arcades and a nice town centre filled with a large number of  boutique shops.

For the best fish and chips be sure to visit the Harbour Inn and catch the rowing ferry across to Walberswick if it is running!

Also worth a visit are Aldeburgh, Great Yarmouth, Dunwich and Walberswick.

Visit Ed Sheerhan's home town and the "Castle on the Hill" only a short drive from the site. This is a beautiful part of Suffolk and an ideal de-tour on the way to the beach. From here you could also visit the stunning town of Woodbridge also with it's lovely boutique cinema!
